PolySwarm’s native token, NCT, recorded a sharp price increase after South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit announced plans to add an NCT/KRW trading pair. The token gained more than 200% in 24 hours before trading against the Korean won was scheduled to begin.
Upbit said NCT/KRW trading would open at 9:00 p.m. Korea Standard Time on August 26, provided there were no liquidity-related delays. The new market gives PolySwarm’s NCT a direct fiat trading route on one of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges by reported domestic trading volume.
NCT Price Rises Before Upbit Listing

NCT’s price reacted quickly to the listing announcement. According to CoinGecko data cited in the report, the token was trading near $0.0146 at approximately 7:43 p.m. KST, representing an increase of about 200% over the previous 24 hours
During the same period, NCT’s trading volume reached roughly $15.36 million, while its market capitalization stood near $24.28 million. The token traded within a wide range of approximately $0.004626 to $0.01384 during the measured period.
The price movement highlights how exchange listings can influence smaller cryptocurrency assets. A new trading pair on a major platform often attracts traders seeking early access, higher liquidity, or short-term momentum. However, the timing of the price rise does not prove that the Upbit announcement was the only factor behind the rally.
NCT was also available on other exchanges, including Bithumb, Coinbase and Gate. Market activity across these platforms may have contributed to the sudden increase in price and volume.
Upbit Adds NCT/KRW Trading Pair

Upbit already supported NCT trading against Bitcoin. The exchange’s new Korean won market will allow users to trade PolySwarm’s NCT directly against KRW without first converting funds into Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency.
Upbit listed the previous closing price from the NCT/BTC market at 0.00000006 BTC. Based on the exchange’s reference calculation, this equated to approximately 6.55 Korean won. The reference price is used to establish temporary trading controls, but it does not guarantee the token’s actual opening price.
The launch could attract significant attention from Korean traders because KRW markets are often among the most active markets for tokens newly listed on major domestic exchanges. Strong early demand can create rapid price movements in either direction, especially when an asset has a relatively small market capitalization.
Temporary Trading Restrictions
Upbit announced several restrictions for the opening period. Buy orders would be blocked for around five minutes after trading begins. The exchange would also restrict sell orders placed at prices 10% or more below the reference price.
For approximately the first two hours, only limit orders would be available. A limit order allows traders to specify the price at which they want to buy or sell. Unlike a market order, it does not execute immediately at the best available price.
These measures are intended to reduce disorderly trading during the initial phase of the listing. New markets can experience large spreads, sudden price gaps and heavy order-book imbalances. Temporary controls give the exchange time to monitor trading activity and liquidity.
Upbit also warned that the launch could be postponed if deposits and withdrawals did not provide sufficient liquidity. At the time covered in the report, the listing remained scheduled for 9:00 p.m. KST.
Zero Trading Fees for 24 Hours

To mark the launch, Upbit planned to waive standard trading fees for the NCT/KRW market during its first 24 hours. The promotion was scheduled to run from 9:00 p.m. on August 26 until 8:59:59 p.m. on August 27.
The usual trading fee was listed at 0.05%, while the promotional rate would be reduced to zero. If Upbit delayed the launch, the fee-free period would begin when trading actually opened.
Fee promotions can encourage additional trading volume because users face lower transaction costs. However, zero fees do not remove the risks linked to volatility, low liquidity or rapid price changes. Traders may still experience slippage, delayed execution or losses if the market reverses quickly.
Ethereum Network Supported
Upbit stated that NCT deposits and withdrawals would initially be supported only through the Ethereum network. The exchange identified the supported NCT contract address as 0x9e46a38f5daabe8683e10793b06749eef7d733d1.
Users sending tokens to Upbit should verify the network and contract details before initiating a transfer. Sending NCT through an unsupported network could result in delays or require manual recovery. The exchange also requires users to follow Travel Rule procedures and personal-wallet ownership verification requirements.
This network limitation is particularly important for traders who hold wrapped or bridged versions of NCT on other chains. A token with the same ticker may not be compatible with Upbit’s deposit system if it is issued on a different blockchain.
What Is PolySwarm?

PolySwarm describes itself as a decentralized marketplace for cybersecurity and threat-intelligence services. The platform brings together security engines that analyze files and other digital data to identify potential malware.
NCT is used to reward threat-intelligence providers based on their performance. The token also gives users access to security data produced through the PolySwarm ecosystem.
PolySwarm’s NCT is an ERC-20 token with a maximum supply of approximately 1.886 billion units. Nearly the entire supply was reported to be circulating at the time of the listing announcement.
NCT Market Outlook

The key test for PolySwarm’s NCT will be whether the token can maintain demand after the initial excitement surrounding the Upbit listing fades. Early price rallies often attract momentum traders, but they can also lead to profit-taking and sharp pullbacks.
Traders will likely watch the opening price, KRW trading volume, bid-and-ask spreads and the behavior of NCT on other exchanges. A sustained increase in volume across multiple markets could indicate broader interest. In contrast, a quick decline after the launch could suggest that the initial rally was driven mainly by speculation.
The listing expands NCT’s access to South Korean traders, but it does not guarantee a lasting increase in value. Cryptocurrency markets remain highly volatile, and exchange-related rallies can reverse quickly.
